Danielle: I really like her blog because she always has cool and creative names for her entries. She’s also has a bubbly personality and that shows a lot through her writing in her blog.

http://tinkerbell127.edublogs.org/

Kevin: I like Kevin’s blog because it’s simple. It’s not crazy colors and he uses good vocabulary and it’s just easy to follow. http://kevinshauntheleprechaun.edublogs.org/

Samantha: Again, I like her blog because of the simplicity. She also presents her projects well in each entry. http://samantharose.edublogs.org/

Part 2:

Top 3 favorite entries:

Miranda’s project seven self evaluation: I liked this one because photoshop is really cool and i loved how she did her last project. I didn’t know you could do that in photoshop, and I think it would be really cool to be able to restore all torn pictures to their original state. She has some awesome work! http://dummysaiwah14.edublogs.org/2010/06/11/project-7-self-evaluation/

Yon’s project seven self evaluation: I loved the picture he photoshoped because it reminds me of the mall i went to in The Philippines. It makes me want to go back there again!

http://yon123.edublogs.org/2010/06/11/project-7-self-evaluation/

Luis’ project six self evaluation: I really like basketball so just the picture itself was awesome since Dwight is dunking…. But when it’s in space it looks really good. It makes me think of those kid shows where they show people flying in space. http://mexi4life.edublogs.org/2010/05/26/project-6-self-evaluation/

I am definately proud of my final photography project for this class. It’s been the most fun and entertaining! I loved every minute of it. I experimented with a lot of makeup and expressions with my models (my friends) and they were amazing. One challenge I had to overcome was the weather. When I was trying to take my pictures of happiness and love it was raining outside… Not fun! But I made all of my pictures look as best as I could possibly do for this. My favorite ones were the crazy pictures. My two friends and I screwed up our hair and plastered makeup on our faces and took a bunch of crazy pictures. One thing I learned was how to apply makeup better in photography and how to set up a scene to look like what I want it to be, such as sad, happy, lonely, etc. This whole project was a blast and I’m really excited to show it off!

I’m having a ton of fun messing around with makeup and trying to get the right look for my models who will be modeling different emotions. My three friends are coming over on Wednesday so I can take their pictures. I just finished putting together all my looks and I’ve experimented on me and my sister and I can’t wait to do it on my friends. I haven’t had any challenges so far. It’s just been really fun. I love dressing people up and giving them makeovers and being able to incorporate photography in that is a whole lot of fun. I’m super excited to see how everything turns out.

Choosing a final project is hard. I want it to be good! I got the idea to take pictures of emotions from a site that was giving ideas of what to do for a final photography project. One of them was taking pictures of anger. I didn’t want to do that because that would be weird if all of my pictures represented anger. But then I thought about taking pictures of all kinds of emotions such as anger, happiness, sadness, loneliness, etc. What I want to do is get a few friends over or something and totally jazz them up! Makeup and all that good stuff! I want them to portray a certain emotion on their face but never look at the camera. For example, if I was taking a picture of sadness I might smear the make up on my friend’s face and put droplets of water near her eyes to look like she was crying. I might even put her in the middle of a field of wet grass. Not only will the makeup seem real but the expression will also…. I hope. Then I will upload them to flickr and give them the name of the emotion I was trying to portray. I’m going to learn how feelings can be portrayed in photography.

Timeline:

Step 1: Figure out what kinds of feelings I want to display in my pictures.

Step 2: Get at least two friends over at my house and put the make up on them.

Step 3: Have my friends display the emotions I want to portray.

Step 4: Upload images to flickr.

Step 5: Name the images the emotion I’m portraying

Step 6: Write my self evaluation…

I’m totally not done with project 6. I didn’t bring anything to show and I haven’t posted anything yet but it’s going great. I’ve been taking pictures and it’s taken up a lot of time. I Just haven’t fully finished it yet. I really want it to look good especially sinse it’s a harder subject. Most pictures with gestalt elements are hand drawn so it’s quite a challenge to take pictures instead of draw them. Hopefully I will have it done by Friday so I can relax over the weekend I take pictures when I can after school. I’m usually busy after school with babysitting, homework, and sports but my free time is project time so I’m working on it. I learned a lot about Gestalt psychology and how things can appear and be interpreted in pictures. Again, I guess the only problem was time. But I love taking pictures, even if they turn out crappy it’s art…

I have no idea what gestalt psychology is but when I looked at how you could include it in photography it sounded cool. One of the examples of gestalt psychology was Rubin’s figure/vase illusion. Another one was M.C. Escher’s art. Things that don’t explain how images appear multistable, only that they do. What I want to do is research what gestalt psychology really is and how I can include it in my photos. It’s sounds complicated and that’s what I like. I think it will be cool to show in my pictures the key principles of gestalt psychology such as emergence, multistability, reification, and invarience. These are other properties I also have to learn more about. Basically all I’m doing with this project is just using these properties in all my photos. Through this, I will learn more about gestalt psychology and the different ways it’s used in art.

Timeline:

Step 1: Research gestalt psychology and its properties.

Step 2: Plan out how I can incorporate it in to photos.

Step 3: Take pictures using all of the properties.

Step 4: Upload photos to Flickr

Step 5: Add descriptions and state what the properties are and how I used them.

My project was blind photography. What I did was go out to random places with a blindfold and took pictures of things with my eyes closed. The purpose was to see what it’s like to be a blind photographer. I read a lot of interviews with blind photographers and their techniques of how to take good pictures. One thing that really stood out to me was the strength of their other senses, particularly hearing and feeling. One blind photographer takes pictures of birds. What she does is listens for the sound of their wings flapping or when they start squawking. She then determines how to take the pictures just from her sense of hearing. I’ve heard that when one of your senses is gone, the others become stronger. There wasn’t much difficulty this time except for not being able to see. It’s totally frustrating sometimes because I can’t see. If my eye sight was permanently taken away from me then that would be different. But being blind folded, knowing that I can see is annoying! But I learned that this project requires patience. To really experience what blind photographers do is weird but cool. I’m still working on it so I don’t have anything to show yet but I’m planning on being done pretty soon.

Then she could direct me to a certain area and I would take a picture. After I’m done taking at least five pictures I’ll take the blindfold off and look at my pictures. I will do that at several different places and repeat the process of taking pictures blindfolded. This project got me thinking about people who are blind. What would a picture look like if it was taken by someone who is blind? Obviously you wouldn’t normally find a blind person taking pictures, but imagine giving a blind person a camera and asking them to take a picture. It sounds fun to find out what that might be like. Through this project I will hopefully get a better idea of what it’s like to be blind and take pictures.

Timeline:

Step 1: Have my mom drive me to a random location with me blindfolded in the back seat.

Step 2: Stand in different places around the area and take at least five pictures with the blindfold on.

Step 3: Take the blindfold off and review the pictures.

Step 4: Repeat the process again at a different location.

Step 5: Go home and upload images to Flickr and add descriptions such as where the picture was taken and what it is a picture of
